The bowls contain an enamel insert - a bit of copper, shaped and then "painted with fire and glass." The reduced friction of the glass/enamel bowl increases your spindle speed and spin duration!

These spindle bowls are perfect for support spindling. If this is a taller, tower bowl, it fits nicely between your knees or legs if you sit lotus style, offering a solid spot to support spin when sitting in a chair or in bed. The shorter ones work nicely on a blanket in your lap, your leg or on a table.
